A tragic motorcycle accident in Melville claimed the life of a Huntington man on Friday evening, according to Suffolk County police.

Police reported that 38-year-old Anees Khan was operating a 2023 Ducati motorcycle southbound on Round Swamp Road near Hilltop Drive at approximately 6:45 p.m. when the crash occurred. Authorities state that Khan attempted to pass a 2022 Kia Seltos traveling in the same direction when the motorcycle struck the Kia's right rear bumper. The impact caused the motorcyclist to lose control and be thrown from the motorcycle. The motorcycle reportedly caught fire after the collision.

Mr. Khan was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the Kia, both 85 years old and from Plainview, were not injured.
